Credit Opportunities

Notice:

Any OSU student, degree or non-degree seeking, who registers after Friday, June 26, will be assessed a $500 late registration fee plus a $100 fee for each class registered. Therefore, if you have not already registered for this course, only those who have previously been enrolled at OSU to take graduate courses will be considered for Course 8890 since the process of enrollment would be a reactivation and possibly a faster process. Those who have not registered with Ohio State and interested in using the Institute for course credit need to email Dr. Brosnan (brosnan.1@osu.edu) as soon as possible and before June 19, 2015.

The Summer Institute provides the opportunity for credit for three programs within OSU’s Department of Teaching and Learning:

  • Master of Arts (MA) – credit availability and number inquiries must be directed to a program advisor. The Institute website (mcp-coaching.osu.edu/institute2015) may be referenced for detailed information to support your request. The website will be updated as new information, such as content and schedule, becomes available.
  • Education Specialist (EdS) degree – the 2015 Summer Institute will serve as the first 3-credit course/requirement for the NEWLY developed Mathematics Education specialization for the EdS degree. You may find information regarding the EdS degree at http://tl.ehe.osu.edu/academic-programs but note that the page is in the process of being updated to include the Mathematics Education specialization.
  • P-6 Math Specialist – Go to http://mcp-coaching.osu.edu/opportunities/p-6-math-specialist-endorsement/ for details.

You may be happy to learn that VARIABLE credit is available for the Institute. Accepted participants wishing to earn credit will be able to register for as few as 1 credit or as many as 4 credits. As soon as the selection process is complete (please apply if you wish to be considered), information for the course number and registration process will be mailed to those accepted participants who indicated they were interested in course credit on the Institute application. Payment will be made through the regular OSU system, whether you are enrolled in a degree program or wish to take the course as a non-degree student.
